Hi there, so this is a very quick example video for some of the welding capabilities of ENCY. There will be a follow-up video for the point welding operations or spot welding as it's often known since that operates using different equipment to what's currently presented on this particular model of robot arm. However for the sake of linear MIG welding style operations this arm is a perfect illustration thereof. So in order to kick off a welding operation and although this isn't going to be a realistic operation, this is just a model for the sake of illustrating, we go to add operation and welding.
and welding 6D. Now welding 6D basically means that it will function in much the same manner as any of the 5 or 6D linear program methods do. So under job assignment we are going to want to select a 5D curve. Weld seam typically applies to working around the edge of a part whereas 5D curve pertains to an actual selected curve.
So that's what we're going to work on. So we click on 5D curve now and as we can see it's a straight vertical curve that's been applied there. and if we just click on generate toolpath now we'll get a very simple linear weld. As we can see here if we simulate, I'll slow it down a little bit and we'll click run.
It's exactly as one would expect. It traces the curve around. Obviously you can set your feeds and speeds accordingly but this is a very nice simple linear weld. There are however a few more things that we can do with this though.
So if we go back to machining and then we take a look in strategy we can see that we have different welding types. So in this instance we're using seam welding however we can use stitch welding. It is also possible to use tack welding using MIG as well although it's not quite the ideal for use for it. And then there's spot welding which is what we'll be covering in the other video.
So if I were to change this over to stitch welding now we have a whole bunch of extra settings that we can apply. So I'm going to set the stitch length 10 millimeters. That's fine. The spacing length I would like to set to 40 millimeters so that should be fine.
And now if we click generate again we can see there's a little bit more going on in the path now. There's a lot of lead in and lead outlines there and if we were to simulate this a bit slower than we had before when we click on run we can see how it's lifting and stitching. So the basic functionality of welding in ENCY is very very flexible. Obviously you've got similar settings like this for tack welding as well although the complexity does start to come a little bit when we're dealing with spot welding.
However that will be in the next video where we actually have a proper spot welding rig attached to our robot arm. So I shall see you in the next one. Thank you.
